Innovox Audio was founded by Chris Oswood in 1994 in Minneapolis. The business began as a custom-oriented workshop providing well-designed, well-made speakers for demanding applications such as performing arts centers and school auditoriums. Over the next several years, Innovox developed a line of high fidelity pro-install speakers, and gained a growing reputation among local architects and designers for quality, integrity and responsiveness.
At the 2003 InfoComm show, Innovox Audio debuted the SoundFrame Pro line of high-performance ultra-slim speakers. SoundFrame speakers range from 1-1/2” to 2” deep, less than half the depth of typical “slim” wall-mount or display-companion speakers. Their ultra-slim profile allows SoundFrames to virtually disappear against a color-matched wall. This low-visibility aesthetic, coupled with excellent vocal clarity and wide coverage, makes SoundFrames an excellent choice for corporate AV applications, where full, clear sound with near-invisible speakers is a common design goal.
Having the slimmest possible profile also solves a nagging acoustical problem. When a speaker is mounted on a wall, some of the radiated sound bounces off that wall and interferes with the sound coming directly out the speaker itself. This interference pattern is more pronounced the deeper the speaker enclosure is. Making the enclosure as thin as possible minimizes this problem, resulting in substantially smoother sound.
Innovox now produces a full line of professional-install loudspeakers, from the tiny Handivox HVX paging speaker to double 15" subwoofers, in addition to the cutting-edge SoundFrame low-profile line. Our custom capabilities are enhanced by an in-house woodshop and excellent relationships with our vendors, allowing us to provide short-run custom loudspeakers at reasonable prices.
We have remained focused on responsive service and prompt application support while growing over the last two years. As word steadily gets around the AV industry, and as projects specifying Innovox become increasingly common, it appears this strategy is working. |
