California Academy of Science
in Golden Gate Park is home to
many exhibits concerning the world
around us, including Steinhart
Aquarium, a multi-level miniature
rainforest, and the Hall of Africa. It
is also home to about two dozen
Innovox Audio speakers. Custom
versions of Innovox’s MLA-series Microline arrays are used in
touchpanel-driven kiosks in the Hall of Africa. Custom digltallysteerable
versions of the SLA-6.1 Slim column array are built
(horizontally) into exhibits in the Madagascar Island area, and Flex
series speakers are carefully integrated above Samsung display
panels, delivering narration and other audio for multiple exhibits
within this extremely popular, world-class science attraction.

San Jose’s new Terminal B and
remodeled Terminal A are both
served by Innovox Audio SLA and
ULA-series line arrays. Terminal
B features a main ticketing area
covered by forty SLA-4.1 Tilt
arrays and also twenty ULA-12.8
arrays for longer-throw coverage
(reaching some 60 feet away). In Terminal A, seven MLA-16
Microline arrays cover one area for arriving passengers, while
two dozen SLA-6.1 arrays are used in the international area.
The comments about system performance have been "best
intelligibility I’ve ever heard" and "like a concert hall."
| Bank of America,
New York office tower
DESIGNER: CMS Creative
Consultants, New York, NY
INSTALLER: AV Services, Fairfield,
NJ
In this LEED-certified office tower in downtown Manhattan, over
50 videoconference suites are equipped with customized Innovox
FL-H2 and FL-V2 speakers. CMS Creative Consultants made
use of Innovox’s "cut-to-length" flexibility to design split-speaker
bars spanning two NEC displays, with a Polycom camera placed
betwwen the two speaker bars. By locating the speakers at the
display, instead of in the ceiling, CMS succeeded in integrating
the audio and video images of the videoconference experience
for Bank of America.
Cirque du Soleil!
Las Vegas, NV
DESIGNER: Jonathan Deans
Over 6,000 channels of surround-sound audio are now playing
through custom-designed Innovox speakers for the Cirque du
Soleil show LOVE. The speakers are permanently installed in all
2,000-plus seats in The Mirage, formerly the home of Siegfried
and Roy. Innovox Audio developed and produced the speakers
for the show, which features over ninety minutes of Beatles
music. The required combination of rigorous musical fidelity and
extremely compact geometry proved very difficult to achieve.
However, over a year-plus of development, Chris Oswood and
Phil Jones of Innovox rose to the challenge, working closely with
sound designer Jonathan Deans.
